The portions are good for the price. The only thing I've ever eaten here is their Gyros and I'm not sure why I haven't tried anything else. The main reason I keep trying their gyros is because I'm crazy and expect different results every time I go. What I mean is I've had way better gyros than what's served here, but I'm hoping one day they have the flavor I'm used to. The "lamb" meat, which I doubt very hardily this is, doesn't taste anything like lamb. The gyro sauce doesn't have any flavor other than sour cream. So their gyros are disappointing from the standpoint of flavor. However, they are large in size so your tummy does fill up. There's nothing special about their fries, and if you want a refill on drinks, you have to pay for it. If you like quick food, and a fair amount, this place is a good buy. If you want flavor, look elsewhere.

Things I like from The Sub Shop: Real Catchup. (Odd I know, but have you really ever tasted Heinz next to ANY other Ketchup? Even the generic "Catsup" does not have that rotten, overly sticky sweet, nearly fermented flavor of Heinz.. But I digress . . .) Other things I like: Hot and Fresh Subs. Hearty, Overstuffed Gyros. Things I don't like from the Sub Shop: Rice Bowl. It needs more meat. Too many carrots and 2 kinds / shapes which was just weird. There was a small amount of chicken in the Rice Bowl and the chicken used was for the subs which had the wrong seasonings and competed with the sauce. Things I would love to see improved: Better quality for the prices. Add a Self-Serve Free Refill Drink Tower. Quit hiding the kitchen; it makes it appear that you are hiding a dirty space: get rid of the windows and open up the space. A window in the dining room to brighten things up or a TV to distract the fact that a window does not exist. Music maybe? So for a west end, lunch only, choice in Sierra Vista, The Sub Shop is an agreeable choice for a hot lunch. Ratings: Atmosphere: 2.9 Stars Food: 3.2 Stars Staff: 3.3 Stars Final Rating: 3.1 Stars.

This is now a BBQ place, and it is delicious. You have to pick up your order yourself (no waitress bringing food to your table) and no alcohol. Still, the great food means I'll be back.

This town is so small that after two years of living here (and kinda-sorta hating it a lot) I'm tickled when I find new stuff. "Stuff" of the likes that I haven't seen, been to, or driven by at least four hundred thousand redundant times already. This place is easy to miss. On the corner of Wilcox and Carmichael you'll catch it hiding behind a barber shop. I forgot to ask how long they've been in business but my husband stumbled upon it a few weeks ago and is in love. They offer a large selection of toasted subs, everything with fries, sweetened ice tea, etc. I think it's good. Not great. But in Sierra Vista good IS great, and thus worth noting.

my hubby and his coworkers love this place. i haven't ever been, but he brought me back a sub. the thing was MASSIVE...chicken, cheese, peppers, onions and italian dressing. it was actually pretty decent, but i felt like a fatass for the next six hours...that's okay, i needed the motivation to get off my ass and into the gym. thanked the hubby but said that a six inch would suffice next time. if you are starved, get a big un, otherwise, be warned. fyi, this place closes at 3 and isn't open on sunday...not a dinner option!

Coming from the East coast I happen to know a thing or two about what a Sub or Cheese steak should be. This store has no clue at all what a sub is. The bread is sub par and lacks any personality at all. The meats are not premium cuts and the lack of quality shows on first bite. My wife as well as myself happen to be sub fanatics, Back home we grabbed subs or cheese steaks atleast twice a week from Ginos in Philly, Or Capriottis in Delaware. Mind you, Subways or Quiznos are not even close to real subs either, But you would be better off eating there instead. The prices here far exceed the quality, Especially when it comes to the cheese steaks. Real cheese steaks are made with shaved rib eye steak, In philly you can get an 18" large with he works for $12.95. I know this is not Philly, I know there aren't many options here in SV for the sub lovers but this place is just not worth the trip, the price or the time it takes to chew the crud they make. A little advice, Go to the Grocery store, grab a few pounds of the meats you like on your subs, or go to the butcher in the back and have him shave 2 pounds of boneless rib eye, grab a good fresh baked roll and head home to make it for yourself. Im not a very picky eater, But this place just sucks. Any of you that have tried a real Sub or steak know exactly what I mean.

Ordered 3 subs 2 fries to-go, took 20 minutes, they tried to give it on a tray to dine-in, (I was by myself ordering 3 large subs and 2 fries), lady says "he said 'for here'", had to remind them about the fries, lady says "he didn't order fries, oh wait, yeah, two fries." Ordered 2 pastrami w/mustard-pickles only, 1 salami w/lettuce only, simple enough. Got home and cheese was melted on the edges of the pastrami, and the salami had mayo stuck between the meat. They had mistakenly put on the cheese and mayo and tried to remove them instead of just starting over. Wouldn't be a big deal if I wasn't allergic to dairy and my friend didn't get sick after eating mayo. I'll give em a year before I ever go back, hopefully there will be some kind of improvement by then. Too bad, because I love subs and usually eat at least 2-3 every week, and the quality of the ingredients at this place is pretty good, and the prices are reasonable.
